ABOUT R&D
Results & Discussion refers to two latter sections in the typical scientific paper, respectively summarizing the authors’ findings and pointing towards important implications of their work: ways in which their research might significantly impact their fields, the lives of subjects involved, developments of new technologies, and practically anything else you can think of. This podcast seeks to do something similar: provide readers with the most important results of recent science and discuss the broader context around them. Why does this work matter at all? What’s the story behind it? What guides a person to do any of this at all? If Results & Discussion can succeed in answering just some of these questions, it’s succeeded in the host’s book.

Sam Bowden entered college as a neuroscience major, hoping to follow in the footsteps of his dad (a clinical psychologist) and grandfather (an organic chemistry professor). But he was scared off by scientific jargon, brutal problem sets, and impenetrable readings. He studies comparative literature now (sorry, grandpa), but his passion for science remains with him. He hopes that Results & Discussion can be the resource he wishes he had: accessible, entertaining, and designed for an audience without formal, fancy scientific training.

R&D's mastermind demonstrated his scientific interests from an early age. He promises he looks a little cooler nowadays.
